Methodology
What we cover
Broadband Availability tracks broadband and fiber coverage across 761 cities and 33 states in India, for 7 providers (data as of Tue Jul 14). We compile each provider’s own published serving-area lists, BSNL Bharat Fiber coverage, and the served-city lists for ACT Fibernet, Excitel, Tata Play Fiber and You Broadband.
Confirmed coverage, deduped to the city
A provider’s serving-area list often names hundreds of localities. We map each of those to its city and dedupe, so a provider is listed once per city where it has confirmed coverage. “Confirmed” means the provider’s own list places it somewhere in that city. It does not mean every street is serviceable. Coverage varies by area and by provider.
National operators
JioFiber and Airtel Xstream operate across most of India. Rather than fabricate a confirmed, city-by-city coverage entry for them, we mark them as nationally available and show them separately on every city page, kept visually distinct from the confirmed-coverage list. For these, the honest answer is always: check your exact address on the operator’s app.
Localities
Where a provider’s list names the specific areas it serves, we surface those on the city page under “coverage includes”. These are indicative area names, not a guarantee for any single address.
Indicative, not live
This is not real-time serviceability. We never claim a provider can install at your specific address today, only the provider’s own app or field team can confirm that. Treat our city-level view as a shortlist of who to check, then confirm your exact address with the provider.
Corrections
Coverage changes as providers expand or retreat. If a provider is missing, listed incorrectly, or no longer serving your city, tell us via the report a correction form or write to corrections@broadbandavailability.in, and we’ll review and update it.
